Shirley Jean Stone

LANCASTER: Shirley Jean Stone, 88 of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday February 16, 2013 at Crestview Manner. She was born on December 16, 1924 in Kansas City, MO, daughter of the late Fred and Carrie (Head) Kirk. Shirley was a member of the 6th Avenue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, John F. Stone of Lancaster, David C. Stone of Columbus and Christopher H. (Rhonda) Stone of Lancaster; daughters, Sandra S. (Edward) Dalton of Westerville and Vera E. Stone of Lancaster; 5 grandchildren, John K. Sneddon, Jessica Dalton, Jennifer Dalton, Jayden Stone and Hannah Stone and a great grandson, Xavier Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold C. Stone; a daughter, Ethel K. Stone and a daughter-in-law, Margie Stone.

The family would like to thank all of the care givers that had helped Mom along the way. They include: Carol Walters (Head of Aging Program) and Julie Bauman (daily Home Health Care), the staff of Crestview Manor, Dr. Edwards and his staff for the wonderful care that was given to Shirley, the members of Mid-Ohio Ambulance that transported her regularly, the Lancaster Fire Dept. that ran on her numerous times to stabilize her condition, the Fairfield Medical Center Dr's, nurses and tech's who treated Mom and made us think she was the "Energizer Bunny" for all the times she kept coming back from the brink, the flight crew who delivered Mom to OSU from Lancaster, the entire staff who made up the Stroke Unit at OSU and all the caring people who treated Mom 3x's a week at Hocking Hills Dialysis Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 pm Saturday February 23, 2013 at Sixth Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or Central Ohio Diabetes Association.
