SUGAR GROVE: Carl Raymond "Chiny" Krile, 94 of Sugar Grove, Born to this life: January 23, 1918 Entered eternal life: January 18, 2013.
Carl was a graduate of Berne Union High School Class of 1936. He retired from the Columbia Gas Transmission System after 42 years of service. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. Carl was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1016 and Olivedale Senior Center. He was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sugar Grove, Ohio and was a custodian of the church for the last 40 years. Carl was well known in the area for his homemade rag rugs and wine. During the latter part of his life he enjoyed having his grandchildren and great grandchildren around and the youngest on his lap.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Virginia (John) Price of St. Cloud, Florida; Rita (Tom) Fisher, of Sugar Grove; Jane (Steve) Campbell of Lancaster; Rebecca (Deacon Frank) Sullivan of Carroll; sons, Robert (Kathleen) Krile; Jim (Joyce) Krile, Fred (Barbara) Krile and Dan (Kathy) Krile all of Lancaster, Tom (Linda) Krile of Amanda; Michael Krile of Sugar Grove, and David (Marion) Krile of Lancaster. Carl had 38 grandchildren and 47+ great grandchildren, a brother, Leonard Krile of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen (Danner) Krile; his parents, Emanuel and Anna Elizabeth (Kilbarger) Krile; brothers, Earl, Ralph, and Louis Krile; sisters, Mary Van Buren, Agnes Sheets, and Leota Bontrager, granddaughter Melissa Lynn Krile, great granddaughter Amelia Krile.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on Monday January 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sugar Grove with Fr. Stephen Krile and Fr. James Walter as co-celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lancaster with military honors. Visitation will be on Sunday January 20, 2013 from 2-8PM at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME, with a vigil service at 7:30PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Pickering House in Carl's memory. The family would like to thank Dr. Sielski, the staff at Alterna Care and the staff at the Pickering House for the excellent care given to Carl.
