LANCASTER: Henry Louis Cochran "Chet" departed this life 11 June 2012 at the age of 90. He was born December 11, 1921, Lancaster, Ohio, to Joseph Wellington and Alma Gladys Hanna Cochran.
Survived By: daughter, Patsy Cochran Kishler (David), Lancaster; granddaughter, Jenny Kishler Russell (Rodney), Baltimore; great-granddaughter, Madeline Shea Russell, Baltimore; great-grandson, Kaden Michael Russell, Baltimore; nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by wife, Helen Louise Gatwood Goff Cochran (July 1996); son, Michael F. Cochran (August 2003); parents; brothers, Edward and Otto Cochran; sisters Ruth Cochran (infant), Margie Cochran Thomas, Ruby Cochran Kopecky, Dorothy Cochran Romine and Florence Cochran Piper.
He retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation after 33 years and was a member of AFGW Union #25.
Henry was a veteran of WWII, being a member of the Ninth Regiment of the Third Marine Division, Pacific Campaign. He saw combat on Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima. He enlisted in the US Marines in Cincinnati on 13 January 1942 and was discharged on 21 September 1945 from the Marine Barracks in the Washington Naval Yard, Washington, D.C. He was a life member of the Third Marine Division Association, Inc.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 3761. He was a former member of the American Legion and Fairfield Fish and Game, Baltimore.
No calling hours will be observed. The Lancaster Ohio Veteran's Burial Detail will conduct military rites at the graveside at Floral Hills Memory Gardens on Thursday June 14, 2012 at 10:30AM.
