CANAL WINCHESTER: Joan I. (Wymer) Cook, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend entered into rest on June 4, 2013. She was born December 28, 1946.

Her infectious smile, caring attitude, giving spirit, and love for life touched the hearts and lives of countless people. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She loved gardening and decorating and had a passionate love for our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was the family Doctor, Lawyer, Psychiatrist, and a walking dictionary! Recently, Joan was named an Honorary Citizen of Boys Town. She was a loyal supporter of the charity, carrying on the tradition started long ago by her mother.

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Mabel L. Nye. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Donald Cook; six children, Dawn Rae Wymer, Kelly (Matt) McGiffin, Morgan (Josh) McGuire, Gary (Mickey) Wymer, Grant (Misti) Wymer and Robyn Wymer; as well as 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her brother, Rodney Horne.

The family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 550 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, OH, where the funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM, Minister Terry McGiffin officiating.

The family would like to thank Ohio Health Home Reach Hospice for the care and support provided throughout Joan's courageous battle with cancer.
