John W. Snyder

LANCASTER: John W. Snyder, CPA, 76, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on July 13, 1936 to the late Glen and Mabel (Straley) Snyder.

John served his country in the United States Army. He was a 1966 graduate of The Ohio State University. John was a licensed Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Valuation Analyst, and was accredited in Business Valuations by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. John enjoyed every moment of his career. He cherished the numerous long-term relationships with staff and clients he accumulated over the years. He retired from Snyder & Company in 2010 and stayed connected to the Firm to keep his partners in line, and was always available to help steer the ship through the wisdom he had gained over the years. John was a big part of the community; he was past trustee for the Fairfield Medical Center, Past President of the Lancaster-Sherman Rotary Club, Instructor of tax and accounting classes at Ohio University, Past Commodore of the Athens Boat and Ski Club and was also a life member of the N.R.A. John was involved with numerous other non-profit and fraternal organizations. He enjoyed boating, golfing, and shooting sports.

John is survived by daughter, Susie (John) Freeland; granddaughter, Heather (Paul) Daly; great grandchildren, Annabella and Darby; loving companion, Teresa Miller; numerous cousins.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Ingeborg F. Snyder.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 14 at 11:00 AM at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME with Dr. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity Newsies in memory of John.
