Fr. Ronald L. Arter

SUGAR GROVE: Fr. Ronald L. Arter, age 79, of Sugar Grove died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Fairfield Medical Center.

Fr. Arter had served as Catholic Priest for 52 years to the Diocese of Columbus. His service to parishes were at St. Ladislas in Columbus, Immaculate Conception in Dennison, St. Peter in Chillicothe, Church of the Atonement in Crooksville, St. Mary in Delaware, St. Bernard in Corning, and retired in 2004 as parish priest after 18 years at St. Mark in Lancaster. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus for 50 years.

Fr. Ronald L. Arter is survived by his brothers and sister, Gerald (Betsy) Arter of Charleston, South Carolina, David (Mary) Arter of Lancaster, Lois Arter of Sugar Grove, and Thomas (Mary) Arter of Lancaster; special friends, Jessica Marie (David) Christian and their Daughter Nova Lye Christian; nieces and nephews.

Fr Ronald L. Arter was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ethelrita Arter and stillborn brother, William "Billy" Ray Arter.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at St. Joseph Church in Sugar Grove with Bishop Frederick F. Campbell as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Lancaster.

Friends may visit 2 - 4 and 6 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sheridan Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; and 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Sugar Grove. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church in Sugar Grove or St. Mark Church Food Pantry.
