Wanda Shaeffer

LANCASTER: Wanda E. Shaeffer, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Fairfield Medical Center. Wanda was born in Reading Twp., Perry County Ohio on February 27, 1930 to the late Ruby Mae Rutter Stimmel and Franklin Peter Stimmel. She married Robert H. Shaeffer June 25, 1950. Wanda is a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked in many of the church ministries. She was a retired Lancaster High School Teacher for 31 years.Wanda was a member of the Fairfield County Ohio State Alumni Association, Fairfield County Retired Teachers Association, American Cancer Society and Boy Scouts. She organizes nursing home visitations and takes food to people who can't leave their homes.

Wanda is survived by daughters and sons-in- law, Linda and Jeff Maurice, Toni and Michael Ashton; grandchildren, Max Curts, Ben Curts, Zane Peterseim, Chelsea (Ben) Swain and Chasen Peterseim; great-grandchildren, Ryan Lewis, Caleb Eyeman, Luna Bennett, Cooper Swain, John Curts and Mary Drake; close friend, Chuck Bishop; sisters, Frances (Bob) Baughman and Patricia Rutherford; nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" H. Shaeffer, brothers and sisters, Bernard Stimmel, Billie Stimmel, Midge James, Jesse Stimmel, Betty Eads, Jim Stimmel, Raymond Stimmel and Bobbie Keckley, parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harvey and Gladys Shaeffer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert McDowell officiating. Burial will be at New Reading Cemetery, Perry County. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church, 163 E Wheeling Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
