HIDE-AWAY HILLS: Robert Joseph "Bob" Weidner, 85, of Hide-Away Hills, Ohio, died at 7:58 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Mount Carmel East Hospital.
Bob was born June 5, 1929 in Thurston, Ohio, the son of the late Leo S. and Catherine Richardson Weidner.
He was a graduate of Ohio University, a Korean Conflict Army Veteran and a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58. Bob was also a member of the Hocking County Fish and Game.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, whom he married August 13, 1955, Marilyn A. Dittoe Weidner of the home; three sons, John (Diane) Weidner of Alexandria, Va., Karl (Marcia) Weidner of Greenville, Ohio, Phil (Carolyn) Weidner of Mount Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Ann (Gary) dePaauw and Eileen Weidner all of Pickerington, Ohio; nine granddaughters; four grandsons; four great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons, and a great-granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Mary Green of Baltimore, Ohio and Barbara Deeds of Sugar Grove, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tammy Weidner (2011).
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset with Father Stephen Carmody as celebrant. Friends may call from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. A private burial will be held at a later date. Military honors will be provided by the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58.
