George G. Bloom

LANCASTER: George G. Bloom, age 81, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center.

He was a retired employee of Lancaster Mold Co, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and member of Emanuel Lutheran Church Lancaster, a loyal Glass Worker's Union member and enjoyed playing dart ball. George was the youngest of 15 children.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Bloom; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn (Jim) Daubenmire, Cathryn (Ken) Karns; grandchildren, Abigail (Phil) Herington, Andrew (Julie) Daubenmire, Matthew and Scott Karns (fiancé, Anna Yarbrough); and a great granddaughter, Molly Bloom Herington; sisters, Margaret Creachbaum, Norma Jean Crist; sister-in-law, Norma Bullock; nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, William & Anna (Nusbaum) Bloom; sisters, Nellie Moodspaugh, Annie Benson, Mary Bloom, Flora Kern Jacobs, MinnieCantrell; brothers, William, Fred, Harry, Harold, Edgar, Edwin and Matthew.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Raddatz officiating. Burial will be at Forest Rose Cemetery where the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the Church.

The family suggests contributions to Emanuel Lutheran Church in his memory.
