Robert E. Cottrill

Lancaster: Robert E. Cottrill, 86, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Lanfair Center. He was born on April 4, 1925 to the late Harold Cottrill and Geraldine (Cottrill) Lynch who owned the Harold Cottrill Chevrolet in Bremen.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII . He retired from Lancaster Mold, prior to that he worked at Erickson Glass in Bremen. Bob also drove cars for High Standard and Taylors Chevrolet. He was a member of the V.F.W. 1516, American Legion Post 11, Amvets Post 1985 and Eagles 2120. Bob is survived by sons Thomas (Melody Arent) Bobbitt of Lancaster and Rick (Ruth) Cottrill of Florida; daughter Connie (Louis) Miller of Thornville; grandchildren Amber Bobbitt, Aaron Bobbitt, Kenny Cottrill, Debi Heid and Todd Starner; great grandson Devin Starner; great great grandson Cyrus Starner; brother Don Cottrill; good friends Jim "Brooksie" Brooks and all his friends at the river.

In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his wife Ruby M. Cottrill; son Robby Cottrill; brother Harold Cottrill Jr.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 11:00 AM at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Otis Tate officiating. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens where a military graveside will be conducted by the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Burial Detail. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 16 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial Contribution may be made to the Pickering House or donor's charity of choice.
