SUN CITY, AZ: Lois Virginia Hanna, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4th at 6:25 pm. Lois has been a resident of Sun City for the past seven years.
Lois was born in Baltimore, Ohio on June 19, 1924, the second of four children born to Alice and Stanley Kohler. She was the last of her family to graduate to Heaven. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Hanna, at the age of 19 in Tallahassee, Florida and Charles went of to fight in WW II. Lois worked as a bookkeeper at an egg hatchery. Due to severe arthritis, Lois was advised by her doctor to move to the dry heat of Arizona. Leaving loved ones behind, the family of five moved to Tempe in January, 1955.
Later, when new housing became available on the west side of the valley, the family moved to West Phoenix. She went to work for Honeywell as a builder of circuit boards for 10 years until a hand injury forced her to retire. Lois and Charles were married fifty-four years before he passed away at the age of seventy-four. Lois loved angels, butterflies, old barns and covered bridges. She loved sewing clothes for her two grandkids, Charles and Melanie Baldon and for the children of relatives and friends. She also made Cabbage Patch doll clothes and learned to create beautiful porcelain dolls and sew costumes for them. After 40 years in West Phoenix, Lois move to Sun City.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Janet (Craig) Baldon of Sun City and daughter, Carolyn Hanna of Irvine, CA; (son Charles, III deceased at age 12). Lois was blessed to know and be actively involved with her four great grandkids, Cynthia 16, Cherri 14, Cora 12 and Corwyn 10, children of her grandson Charles Kenneth (Candice) Baldon, residents of El Mirage, granddaughter Melanie Baldon resides in Canyon Country, CA.
Visitation 5 - 7 PM Monday at Palmcroft Baptist Church, 15825 N. 35th Ave. Phoenix, where a celebration of life will be held, 10:00 am Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Interment 12:00 pm at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 www.greenacresmortuary.net
