CARROLL: Verlin Kraner Jr. 88, of Carroll, passed away on Monday, June 17th. Born to Verlin and Edna (Boyer) Kraner on May 12th, 1925. Preceded in death by wife of 68 years Mary Ann; brothers Howard, Wayne, Bob, Ed, and sister Eleanor. Survived by sons John (Deanna), Ben (Tracy), and Jeff; grandchildren Jeremy, Justin, Kyle, Joel, Kris, Justin, Katie, Nick, and Dylan; 8 great grandchildren; sister Phyllis Fast, sister-in-law Joan Kraner, brother-in-law Donald (Dee) Dupler ; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was a member of Shalom United Methodist Church and Olivedale Senior Citizen Center. In his days of employment he worked as a warehouse foreman for over 35 years at Stewart Bros. furniture store. He also served as a Greenfield Township Trustee for 16 years.
Verlin was a WWII veteran.
He will be remembered for his honesty, smile, concern and love for his family, but especially his love for his wife. Life was very difficult for him without her. He will be sorely missed by his entire family.
Visiting hours will be Friday, June 21st, from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held at the Carroll Cemetery at 1:30 with Rev. Craig Arnold officiating and where the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail will conduct graveside rites.
