Jean Ann ( Benson) Warthman

BALTIMORE: Jean Ann Warthman was born July 17, 1931 and passed away on July13, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was raised on the family farm in Carroll Ohio by parents Halvin V Benson and Mary (Courtright) Benson. She graduated from Carroll High School, the class of 1949.

Jean Ann married the love of her life Lewie Warthman on September 17th, 1949 and raised their family in Millersport, Ohio. She was a hairdresser for 42 years with her shop in her home. Jean Ann loved spending time with her family and attended countless social activities of her children and grandchildren's. She enjoyed crafts, cross stitch, ceramics, and reading books until she lost her vision from Macular Degeneration 10 years ago. She was an inspiration to her family as she dealt with her blindness with drive and determination to be as independent and self reliant as possible. She then bravely battled persistent and chronic pain with courage and strength which has proved to be a powerful testament to her faith.

Jean Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years Lewis E. Warthman, parents Halvin and Mary Benson, brother Jack Benson, infant brother Richard Eugene, father and mother in law, Arthur and Eva Warthman.

Jean Ann is survived by daughters, Mary Lu (John) Bowman, Lisa (Joe) Sandbrink, sons, Michael (Mary) Warthman and Gregg (Dawn) Warthman , brothers Robert (Rosie) Benson, Jerry (Virginia) Benson, sister-in-law Sharon Warthman (Dean) Morelock, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, close friends and her 2 companion cats, Baby and Lola.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday July 17, 2013 at 11:00 in the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastors Jerry Wiles and Steve Bush officiating. Burial will be at Betzer Cemetery, Carroll. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 PM today and from 10:00-11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family warmly want to thank the FMC Palliative Care staff and physicians, AlternaCare Home Health staff, and LanFair Center for Rehab for their compassionate and loving care for Jean.
