LANCASTER: Frances E. Alvis, Age 80, passed away quietly at home on Saturday, October 5, 2013 and went to be with the Lord.
Frances was the daughter of Richard and Edna Smith and the third oldest of her large, close Catholic family of 12 children. She was a devoted Christian who was active in the church and studying the Word of God; she loved her time performing with her family gospel band. Her greatest joys where reading the Bible, visiting with her family and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was blessed with a loving family as we were blessed every day by her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann Murphy and a brother, Leonard Smith.
Frances is survived by husband Leroy Alvis Jr., sons: Lee (Beth) Alvis and Shannon (Stephanie) Alvis; grandchildren, Jeffrey Alvis, Nicholas Alvis, Christopher Alvis, Brittany Alvis and Nina Alvis; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Madeline; siblings, Rita McKitrick, Mary (Jon) Bright, Joe Smith, James (Christina) Smith, Regina (Bud) LeFever, Dan (Jodi) Smith, George Smith, Christy (Wayne) Elkins, Teresa Rivera.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastor James E. Smith officiating. Friends may call 5 to 7p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
