Kenneth Shumaker Obituary
RUSHVILLE: Kenneth E. Shumaker, 80, of Rushville, finished his earthly journey on Friday, January 6, 2017, having been born December 3, 1936 in West Rushville, Ohio to the late Jesse O. and Anna Margaret Vanatta Shumaker.
He graduated from Somerset High School in 1955 and worked on the family farm in Perry County until 1967 when he was employed by the Fairfield Union Local School District as a custodian and school bus driver. He retired in 1997 with 30 years of service.
While in high school he was active in the Future Farmers of America organization and always maintained an interest in farming which continued even after he left the farm.
Ken married Sharleen Chapman Shumaker on July 20, 1958. They had two children, the late K. Kim (Chris) Shaw of Rushville and Wesley A. (Lori) Shumaker of Bluffton, SC. Ken and Sharleen have six grandchildren, Jessica (Ben) Fox, C. Aaron (Aubry) Shaw, Melinda (Adam) Payne, Courtney (Jacob) Dickinson, Elizabeth (Jordan) Chappelear and Ryan (Katlyn) McCoy; and eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bruce (Noella) Chapman of Mason; special friends, Donald Winegardner of Rushville and Richard Mowery of Columbus; and caregiver and friend, Donna White.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Burl Weston Shumaker; daughter, K. Kim Shaw; and brother-in-law, Dan Chapman.

Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Cross Pointe Free Will Baptist Church in Lancaster where a memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday with Pastor Bill Pitts officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Cross Pointe Free Will Baptist Church, 657 East Main St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or to FairHope Hospice and Palliative Care, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.

Kenny Shumaker was such a nice man. He worked at Fairfield Union with my Dad so I saw him at the school from the time I was just a little kid until I graduated from high-school. Sorry to hear of his passing. Thanks for taking such good care of our school all of those years.
