Robert Riddel Obituary
LANCASTER: Robert Lee Riddel, age 71, passed away peacefully February 25, 2017 at the Pickering House after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Bob was born in Glen Dale, WV on June 17, 1945 to Charles and Wanda (Parsons) Riddel who predecease him. Bob was a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1963, and continued his education at the University of Arizona, graduating from Ohio University, Athens. Bob was a math teacher at OSU and several other community colleges in Columbus. In addition to his teaching career, he was a referee for basketball and football in and around central Ohio. Bob loved sports, and watching sports of all kinds was a favorite pastime. Bob also enjoyed family vacations and gatherings. The children in the family were especially dear to him. Bob was an animal lover and the family cats, Mitsi and Bella, provided hours of comfort and entertainment.
He is survived by his loving Wife, Patricia (Serkezes) Riddel, step-children, Dion (Sofia), daughter, Ashlee Raymond, of Dallas, Texas, and Janell (steven) Griggs, children, Maddie and Jack of Odessa, Florida, sister-in-law, E. Caroline (Ray) Gessner of Westerville, Ohio, and Verena (Ralf) Lucker, of Lancaster. In addition, Bob is survived by brother, Charles H. (JoAnn) Riddel, of Ft. Myers, Florida, and their sons, Michael, Christopher, Brian, Kevin and families, special Aunt, Marilyn Riddel and her daughter, Debbie (Dave) Broermann and their four children, all of Arizona.
Dignity Cremation has taken place through HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive visitors during the hours of 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at the funeral home. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Pickering House of Lancaster for their loving care of Bob, and for providing such a wonderful environment for the entire family during Bob's time there.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Pickering House of Lancaster in Bob's memory. (Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd, Lancaster, OH 43130) or to the charity of your choice.

Dear Pat...you and your family are in our prayers...may you find comfort in the Lord. My fondest memory of Bob was seeing him in his referee uniform...standing firm...at a basketball game...sternly keeping players and fans under control. He was a good man...will surely be missed!

remember Bob when he visited his parents before you and he moved in there home. Bob was always courteous, kind and respectful of others. We will miss

My sincere sympathy to the Riddel family, although I haven't seen Robert since I was around 10-years-old, I still remember him and his brother very well. I grew up across the street from them on Mulberry Street in Lancaster, my parents were Charles and Bernice Eaton. May God comfort all of his family and friends during this difficult time.
