Ronald Sylvester Obituary
PIEDMONT, OK: Lancaster native and 1964 graduate of Lancaster High School Ronald E. Sylvester of Piedmont, OK died May 22 in Oklahoma City, after a three-year battle with prostate cancer. He was 70 years of age.
He was born to Frank and Dorothy (DeLong) Sylvester on September 1, 1946. He was married to Laura (Meyer) Sylvester, who survives, for 35 years.
Ron is also survived by a son Ron Sylvester (Amy Swanson) of Bexley; a son Tony Sylvester, (Catherine Zupan) of Worthington; a daughter, Sarah Klonowski, (James) of Tecumseh, MI; and Hannah Sylvester, (Clay Trowbridge) of Piedmont, OK; ten grand-children; a brother, Frank A. Sylvester Jr. (Carol) of Lancaster and a brother Gary Sylvester (Pam) of Nashville, TN.
Ron was a pipefitter with Local 189 Plumbers and Pipefitters. A talented project estimator and journeyman, he started a mechanical contracting business in 1982. He later served as a global missionary assigned to South America and Mexico with the Church of the Nazarene. Ron was a marathon runner, cyclist and accomplished outdoorsman. He was a Viet Nam era U.S. Navy veteran who served in Washington, D.C. as a cryptologic technician (CTO3).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ron Sylvester may be made to the Work and Witness Scholarship Fund, Piedmont Church of the Nazarene, 2011 Piedmont Rd. North, Piedmont, OK 73078.
