Beth Heras Obituary

HERAS, Beth Beth Heras, 36, of Ladner, B.C., died March 4th. She is survived by her beloved husband Mike and her children Kate, John and Emma. She is also survived by her sister Christine Barrett, her parents, Ian and Cheryl Barrett, her parents-in-laws, Debbie and John Heras, brother-in-laws George, Jerry, Jamie, and Nick, sister-in-law Lisa and nieces Ellanah and Alexxa. Beth was born in Calgary, AB and spent her young years in Calgary and Southeastern BC. She graduated from High School in Calgary. Beth met her husband at the University of Western, Ontario. They both finished their studies at UBC where Beth earned a BA in English Literature Beth married Mike in 2001, and they have raised their three beautiful children in Ladner. While Beth passed far too early, she lived a wonderful life and made many people happy. To her family, she was a dedicated mom and wife, a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She was the 'go to' person who could always make things right. She was a source of endless energy. As a mom, she participated in every annual kindergarten trip to the pumpkin patch and was frequently a spectator at the arena, pool, dance studio or gym. She loved to ski and was able to share that with her family. As a wife, Beth supported her husband's irrational devotion to the Canucks. To her parents and sister she was a joy and an inspiration. To her friends, she was kind and considerate - she never missed a friend's birthday and unfailingly sent cards and presents that looked like they'd been wrapped by professionals. She had a great sense of humour and the undeniable ability to find something funny about almost anything. She recently wrote in her blog that a wig she purchased made her look like a cross between a newscaster and a country singer….'all wigs seem to have a lot of hair.' She could also be disarmingly passionate as evidenced by her behavior while watching Top Chef on The Food Network, and her intense, highly focussed shopping sessions. Beth's life will be celebrated on March 9, 2014 at the Beach Grove Golf Club in Tsawwassen, BC from 12-2pm It was Beth's request that a heartfelt thank you be extended to Kelly and Dr. Chia of the BCCA for their caring support. The family would also like to thank the Irene Thomas Hospice and Dr. Jason Kason. In lieu of flowers please send any donations to the Irene Thomas Hospice or to the BC Cancer Foundation made in her name at http://donate.bccancerfoundation.com/ goto/BethHeras

You will be sadly missed, even tough I have only known you since I was 3.5 years old, you are a super mom. One thing that I remembered yesterday after the celebration was a lesson you thought me in Grade 1 and I will always think of John's mom when I spell "because".

Here it goes:

B stands for Big
E stands for Elephants
C stands for Can
A stands for Always
U stands for Use
S stands for Small
E stands for Elephants
So, to me because will never be misspelled because it should say:

Big elephants can always use small elephants.
You shall be dearly remembered.
Love, Ariel Mullan. Delta BC

Dear Beth, We wish we could have been all there to celebrate your life. That is when the realization hits that time and distance does not permit us to be there to share the love we have with you and family. You lived a very short life but one filled with on how you enjoyed life. Your courage, strength, love and kindness will always be remembered. You will always be a part of our life with very loving memories. Aunt Donna, Uncle Harry, Steve, Jennifer, CLayton and Brennan

The other day I was in a doctors office and on the wall they had a quote " Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but rather by the number of times life takes our breath away!" Beth will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched. Our deepest condolences to all the family.

We love to hear your parents speak about you and your sister, or you and your wonderful family. The way their eyes light up when speaking of you shows how loved and appreciated you are. You will always be a hero because of your will to live and your enjoyment and appreciation of every minute of your life. Your infectious smile and bubbly attitude will always be missed by all our family!

Beth, we had a common bond with a breast cancer diagnosis during our pregnancies. You gave me strength and support then, and you recently told me to spend my "cancer free" days living NOT worrying away the days in fear it will return. Your strong and kind words give me strength and courage now and always. Love you and miss your sweet face! xo
