Ashley Nicole Long, 11, of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida, after a valiant battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
Ashley was a student at LaRue County Middle School and an artist. She loved animals and being outdoors, especially fishing and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bobby Wayne Allen and her paternal grandparents, Phillip M. and Mary Ruth Knapp Long.
She is survived by her parents, Todd and Linda Allen Long; two brothers, Austin Scott Long of Hodgenville and Phillip Andrew (Maggie) Long of Lexington; her maternal grandmother, Margaret Allen of Hodgenville; two aunts, Vicki Busick and Allison Carnes; an uncle, Charles Wayne (Cathy) Allen; and lots of friends at Hodgenville Elementary School.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Shannon McCubbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in White City.
In celebration of Ashley it is requested that those attending the services wear colorful clothing.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
