Irene Z. Stevenson Slayton, 89, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the University of Louisville Hospital.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hodgenville and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Francis Slayton; a son, John Douglas Slayton; four sisters; and four brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Bobby) Lewis of Hermitage, Tenn.; Ilene (Ronald) Miller of Elizabethtown and Vivian (Terry) Swink of Johnson City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Miller, Brad (Sonia) Miller, Sonya (Mike) Gunter, Jason Swink, Nikki (Mike) Hill, Lyric (Pamela) Lewis and Melody (Mitchel) Eisenlohr; nine great-grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Heather Cecil, Sarah and Aaron Gunter, Daniel Miller, Tristan and Trenton Lewis and James Hill; a step-granddaughter, Sarah (Aaron) Goff; a great-great-granddaughter, Jaina Armstrong; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Alexis and Evan Goff; and two sisters, Gracie Heckman of Indiana, and Dorothy Glenn of Ohio.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Danny Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
