Sherman Coffey, 80, of Hodgenville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a retired dairy farmer, member of Union Christian Church, an Army
veteran, founding member of the LaRue County Saddle Club and the LaRue County Railsplitters and an avid sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfield "Jake" and Ida Mae Whitlow Coffey; a sister, Juanita Stovall; and three brothers, Harold Thomas Coffey, Bertram Coffey and Lonnie Coffey.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Stillwell Coffey; two daughters, Sharon (Roy) Hornback of Elizabethtown and Renee Coffey of Hodgenville; two sons, Mike (Bonnie) Coffey and Billy Coffey, all of Hodgenville; a granddaughter, Carey Lynne Coffey; a sister, Alviene Hampton of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Ham (Marie) Coffey of Magnolia, and Veechel (Jo Ann) Coffey of Hodgenville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Union Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
