Sylvia Lee Morris, 69, of Campbellsville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Campbellsville.
She was born Jan. 31, 1944, in Hodgenville and was the daughter of the late Elvie and Mary Wright Morris.
She was a 1962 graduate of LaRue County High School. A Campbellsville College graduate in 1973, having served as Senior Class president, received a bachelor of science degree in sociology. She also attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and received a master's degree in religious education and social work. She was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
Ms. Morris was a member of Campbellsville College staff from 1978 to 2006, where she began as student life director, followed by vice president of student development and in 1989 became dean of student services. She held her final position as dean of career services and counseling from 2000 to 2006.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Gardner and Maxine Morris; and two brothers, Calvin Morris and Norman Morris.
She is survived by three sisters, Geneva Propes, Mayola Higdon and Mary Lois Morris; and a brother-in-law, Arlie Gardner, all of Hodgenville; three nieces, a nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Roger Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
