Berney Kessinger, 81, of Campbellsville, son of the late Henry Clay Kessinger and Lizzie Nelson Kessinger, was born in LaRue County on June 5, 1932. He died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Louisville.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was a mechanic and former employee of LaRue County Road Department and Fruit of the Loom. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He united in marriage to Martha Sapp Brewer on April 7, 2006.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Cruse and Naomi Twiddy.
Besides his wife, Martha Sapp Kessinger, he is survived by three sons and one daughter, Leon Kessinger and his wife, Joan, Ricky Kessinger and his wife, Mary, of Hodgenville, Mark Kessinger and his wife, Renee, of Campbellsville and Debbie Henderson and her husband, Billy, of Greensburg; two stepchildren, Wayne Sapp and his wife, Wanda, of Campbellsville and Kathy Pierce and her husband, Chris, of North Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Arvin Kessinger and his wife, Julie, of Hodgenville.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Brother Jim Durham officiating. Burial follows in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Taylor County and can be made at the funeral home.
