Blond Handley Puckett, 94, of Magnolia, passed away, Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Thompson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
He was a member and deacon at the Magnolia Baptist Church, former member of Pikeview Baptist Church, Aetna Grove Baptist Church and Oak Hill Baptist Church, a lifelong farmer, a retired truck driver and a proud Army veteran of World War II, where he so graciously served in the European Campaign under General George S. Patton, Jr., where he received the Purple Heart and the French Legion Medal of Honor.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, of 66 years, Audrey Lucille Close Puckett, a son, Jerry Steven Puckett, and six brothers, Roy, James, John, Harlan, Lee and Howard Puckett.
He is survived by four sons, Paul Handley (Sarah) Puckett of Leesburg, Florida, Marion Ray (Bobbie) Puckett and Glenn Lee (Marsha) Puckett both of Lebanon Junction and Neal (Dyan) Puckett of Magnolia, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, July 29 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Brother Phillip Buckner officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Pikeview Cemetery in Hart County.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, July 28 and after 11 a.m. (EDT) on Friday, July 29 at the funeral home.
