Brenda Kay Skaggs Cote, 69, of Hodgenville, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.

She was born Jan. 14, 1944, and a graduate of LaRue County High School, Class of 1962. She continued her education at Western Kentucky University, receiving her degree in elementary education. After teaching on the elementary level, she went on to work for the civil service at Fort Knox as an educational specialist until she retired.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Beulah Perkins Skaggs.
She is survived by her brother, Larry (Susie) Skaggs of Hodgenville; a nephew, Todd (Kim) Skaggs of Shepherdsville; two nieces, Tarrin (Jeff) Aliff of Lantana Beach, Fla., and Laura (B.J.) Ward of Hodgenville; two great-nieces, Emerald (Mike) Rizzo of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Layla Ward of Hodgenville; and two great-nephews, Logan Aliff of Lantana Beach, Fla., and Clay Ward of Hodgenville.
In keeping with Brenda Kay Skaggs Cote's wishes, she was cremated. A private graveside service was held at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Rust-Wright Funeral Home, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville, was in charge of arrangements.
