Carmel Lee Keith, 80, of Corydon, Ind., formerly of New Haven, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind.
He was a member of Lakeside Worship Center in Elizabethtown, a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Southern Forwarding and Liquid Transport.
After retiring from trucking, he and his sons started K&S Logging in New Haven and surrounding areas. He was a log buyer for Zak Ltd. in New Haven and John Gunn Stave Mill in Lebanon.
He was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Mango, Fla., the son of the late Carmel William Keith and Hazel Phillips Keith.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chase Remington Keith.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalie F. Fraze Keith of Millton, Ind.; three sons, Carmel Lee (Beverly) Keith of New Haven, James "Jimmy" (Sherry) Keith of Elizabethtown and Danny (Brenda) Keith of Boston; three daughters, Carmella Keith of Jasper, Ind., Rita (Mike) Foster of Elizabethtown and Kerrie (Albert) Parr of New Haven; two brothers, Nate (Ruthie) Keith of Concordia and Calvin Keith of Wolf Creek; two sisters, Betty (Julian) Ory of Wolf Creek and Ida Mae (Ron) Singleton of Paynesville; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Jan. 2, 2013, at Lakeshore Worship Center, 1801 Ring Road, Elizabethtown with Rev. Jody Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, and 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Lakeside Worship Center. The funeral will be with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Levi Keith, Carmel Lee Keith III, Daniel Keith, Damon Parr, Dylan Parr, Will Mitchell and Brian Mitchell.
