David R. Peace, 90, of Magnolia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was born in Hart County to the late Reverend W. M. and Olen Druen Peace. He was a member and Elder of the Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church; an Army veteran of WWII, having served in Europe and later retired from the Department of Defense at Ft. Knox after serving for 34 years.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Kyle Peace; his parents, a brother, Robert Hughes (Ruby Parker) Peace; a sister, Geneva Peace (Dr. Glenn) Shifley; a step-son, Wesley Kyle and a step-daughter, Pamela Kyle.
He is survived by a son, David Randell (Gail) Peace, Jr. of Naperville, IL; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Peace (Mike) Thomas, of Columbia, TN; six grandchildren, Sarah Gail Peace (Jeff) Livingston, Jennie Leigh Peace (Jeff) Manderscheid, William Matthew (Megan) Peace, John David Peace, Michael David (Allie) Thomas and Melissa Thomas (Ben) Pyron; eight great-grandchildren, Cora, Lucy and Sawyer Thomas, Luke Pyron, Andrew and Evan Livingston, Carter and Grant Manderscheid; a stepson, Richard (Debbie) Kyle of Albuquerque, NM; three step-grandchildren, Megan Kyle Smith, Justin Kyle and Morgan Kyle; two nieces, Wanda Peace (Tony) Gast and Debbie Shifley (Steve) Robinson; a nephew, Tyner Shifley and a special friend, Dora Heath.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Reverend Tim McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
