Bro. Eugene Centers, 78, of Magnolia, passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a retired minister, having served as the first pastor of Buffalo Nazarene Church where he was also a member, and retired from Vulcan Materials in Elizabethtown after 25 years of service.
Bro. Centers was preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Beulah Garrett Scenters; and a brother, James Carl Centers.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Ball Centers; two daughters, Kathy (Earl) Childers of Waco, and Kay (Jeff) Nash of Magnolia; two sons, Rick Scenters of Richmond and Mike (Marty) Scenters of North Middletown; two sisters, Geraldine McGarvy of Dayton, Ohio, and Katherine Scenters (Tom) Bogie of Alabama; seven grandchildren; Shane (Amanda) Childers, Travis (Kelly Isaac) Barnes, Shea (Melanie) Scenters, Jamie (Jay) Brown, Brandy (Steven) Smith, Angela Rainey and Sherry Scenters; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, with Bro. John Ford and Bro. Andrew Singh officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery near Buffalo.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
