James Curtis "J.C." Wimpsett, 85, of Culvertown, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at his residence in Culvertown.
He was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Culvertown. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culertown. He was retired from Barton Brands LTD after 35 and a half years of service and an army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Felix Wimpsett and Elizabeth Izetta Burba Wimpsett; a son, Joseph Harold Wimpsett; three brothers, Joseph Leland Wimpsett, Anthony Everett Wimpsett and Joseph Edwin Wimpsett; and two sisters, Sister Roberta Maria Wimpsett and Catherine Louise Wimpsett.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rita Culver Wimpsett of Culvertown; four sons, Gary (Nancy) Wimpsett of Louisville, Allen (Jean Marie) Wimpsett of New Haven, Dennis (Debbie) Wimpsett of New Haven and Mike (Sandy) Wimpsett of Bardstown; one daughter, Sharon (Eddie) Thompson of Bardstown; three sisters, Elizabeth (Earl "Foots") Beam of Bardstown, Dorothy Ballard of Bardstown and Martha (Jimmy) Willett of Bardstown; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian burial for James Curtis "J.C." Wimpsett is 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown. The Rev. Troy Overton, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Bardstown with full military honors provided by the Marion County honor guard.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, March 8 and 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, at William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in the chapel of the funeral home with Deacon Arnold Downs officiating.
