Margy Christine Clayton was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky on November 27, 1923, to Taylor and Lydia (Risen) Brown. Margy passed away in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on Thursday, October 20, 2016. She was 92 years of age.
Margy attended Manuel High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Although Margy was a homemaker most of her life, she also did books and office work for their fuel distributorship business.
On March 21, 1942, Margy married James O. Clayton in a Buffalo, Kentucky wedding ceremony. They enjoyed nearly 68 years and marriage and their union was blessed with three children. Margy was a wonderful, devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and loved cooking and caring for them.
An excellent seamstress, Margy made clothing for her children. She was a longtime volunteer at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home and taught Sunday School. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hodgenville, Kentucky.
Margy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Margy is survived by her children, Donna Hazle and husband Darrell, of Broken Arrow, OK, Carla Niemeyer and husband Larry, of St. Charles, MO and Steve Clayton and wife Faye, of Cox's Creek, KY; her grandchildren, Wendy Jones and husband Jason, Angie Dick and husband Bryan, Monica O'Brien and husband Mike, Greg Niemeyer and wife Shelly, Taylor Clayton and Tess Caudhill and 8 great-grandsons.
Services honoring the life of Margy Christine Clayton will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 27 at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville and she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26 and after 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 27 at the funeral home.
