Michael C. Gehant, 58, died on July 22, 2018 at his home in Upton.
He was born on September 22, 1959 in Southborough, MA, the son of Edward and Mary Gehant. Mike graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School in 1978, where he was an outstanding athlete. He attended Mt. Scenario College on a football scholarship.
He and his sister, Sarah, lived on a farm in Kentucky for the last 20 years where Mike made Sarah's dream of owning a horse farm come true. He was a gifted wood worker and an avid outdoorsman, having lived in Alaska for many years. Mike could build or fix anything. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, great–uncle, and nephew.
He is survived by his mother, Mary, of Rockford; siblings, Thomas C. (Tammy) of Caledonia, Peter C. (Cindy) of Loves Park and their children, Kyle, Shawn and Michelle, Amy C. (Fenton) Challgren of Toledo, OH, and their children, Nicholas (Alyssa) and his great-nephew, Jay, of Sioux City, IA, Benjamin of San Francisco, CA, Jane of Denver, CO, and Sarah C. Gehant of Upton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncle and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward.
A private ceremony was held for the family.
