On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Nathan James McCurry husband, father, son and brother, passed away suddenly at the age of 36 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Nathan's love will always be in the heart of his wife and best friend Eliza-Jane Cruse McCurry whom he married Dec. 30, 2006, and their precious daughter, Ada Scout Bratcher McCurry; his parents Roger and Dona McCurry; his brother, Jared and his wife Dana; his sister Leslie McCurry; and his maternal grandmother, Jodie Bratcher.

Nathan will forever be remembered by his nieces and nephews, Caroline and Charlotte McCurry, Darien Huff, Andrew Reed, Courtney and Bryanna Keith and Jayden, Zachary and Zoey Cruse; and his extended family and dear friends.
Nathan was born Dec. 4, 1976, in Springfield, Mo., but grew up in Elizabethtown. He graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1995, completed his Bachelor's of Business and a Master of Arts in Special Education from Campbellsville University, and his Rank 1 at University of the Cumberlands.
Nathan taught in the Elizabethtown Independent Schools and Hardin County Schools before calling LaRue County Schools his home district where he taught special education, was an assistant football coach and a middle school athletic director.
Nathan played center on the 1997 Campbellsville University NAIA Championship football team. Most recently, he coached his daughter's Upward soccer team, the Comets.
Nathan was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. He demonstrated his Christian faith through loving others unconditionally. Nathan participated in summer mission trips to inner city area where he shared his faith through Bible study, athletic activities, and his skills of juggling and making balloon animals.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, May 24, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, in the sanctuary of the former Severns Valley Baptist Church on Poplar Street, Elizabethtown.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Nathan will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the sanctuary of the former Severns Valley Baptist Church on Poplar Street. Interment will follow at Hardin Memorial Park.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Nathan McCurry Memorial Fund for Scout McCurry at Fort Knox Federal Credit Union.
