Orris Donald Peppers, 92, of Hodgenville, passed away, Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was born July 31, 1924, to Elmer and Mable Edwards Peppers. When he was 18-years-old, he joined the US Army and served four years in the South Pacific during WWII. After returning home, he worked at Fort Knox and the Hodgenville Police Department where he served as Chief of Police for 10 years and was a member of Our Lady Mercy Catholic Church.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Lucille Laha and Margie Hoyle and a brother, Billy Peppers.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Natalene Wells Peppers; a daughter, Theresa (Phil) Hornung of Louisville; a son, Don (Rachela) Peppers of Blue Ridge, Georgia; two granddaughters, Tonilyn (David Hussey) Hornung and Merilee (Greg Fitzsimmons) Hornung all of Los Angeles; a great-grandson Emrys Hussey of Los Angeles; two sisters, Carolyn Brannon of Elizabethtown and Loree Robertson of Illinois; and a brother, Ronnie Peppers of Hodgenville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Reverend Mike Williams and Deacon Jim Cecil officiating. Burial will follow in the Barren Run Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26 and after 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 27 at the funeral home.
