Richard Anthony Thurman, 72, of Louisville and formerly of Hodgenville, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.

Richard was a lifelong member of Lane Lincoln CME Church in Hodgenville; a graduate of LaRue County High School; and a graduate of Paducah Barber College in Paducah. He worked in Fort Knox and later bought his own business, Thurman's Barber Shop in Radcliff, which he operated for many years until his retirement.
He was born Dec. 23, 1940, in Hodgenville, the son of the late Augustus and Laura Weathers Thurman. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Augustus Thurman Jr. and Donald Thurman; and one sister, Barbara Thurman Cheney.
He is survived by five sisters, Roberta Hayden of Louisville, Betty Thurman of Louisville, Elizabeth Bell of Hodgenville, Frances Thurman of Louisville, Ramona (Bert) Plant of Detroit, Mich.; 12 nieces; three nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
The funeral service for Richard Anthony Thurman is 11 a.m. May 7, 2013, at Lane Lincoln CME Church, 200 Tanner Road, Hodgenville, with the Rev. Aaron Moss, pastor of Lane Lincoln CME, officiating. Burial will follow in Hubbard Cemetery in?Hodgenville.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Rust-Wright Funeral Home, 612 N. Lincoln?Blvd., Hodgenville; and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Lane Lincoln CME Church.
