Ruth Blair, 72, retired LaRue County High School foreign language teacher, died on Nov. 21, 2012, after a protracted battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. Blair was well known in the community both as a teacher at LCHS and as a interpreter for many families in the Hispanic community. Her tireless work on behalf of these families as well as for the students of LaRue County resulted in the anonymous gift of a new car from an unknown group of her former students.
Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by her husband Garland Blair, also a teacher at LCHS.
She is survived by five children, one brother, and 10 grandchildren, as well as two sisters-in-law, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service for Mrs. Blair at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Visitation begins at 6 p.m. A celebration of her life follows the service in the Our Lady of Mercy parish life center. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Blair requested that donations be made to the LaRue County Friends of the Library or to the LaRue County High School Speech Team of which she had been an avid supporter for more than 40 years.
