Ruth Ledford Helvey, 95, of Hodgenville, Ky. passed away Saturday September 10,2016 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, Ky.
Ruth Ledford Helvey was born in Pike Co. in on Oct 28, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Coyen and Fannie Stewart Ledford. She was a member of the Ninth & O Baptist Church and l Louisville resident for 46 years until her move to LaRue Co. in 2007. She worked for the Jefferson Co. School Systems until her retirement in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Gleamer "Bud" Helvey, of 50 years. Her parents, Her sisters, Edna Younce, Thelma Rose, Martha Little, Onie Varney, Helen King and a brother, Thomas Ledford.
Ruth is survived by her sons; Robert L "Bob" and (Marilyn) Helvey, of Louisville, Ky., William J. "Bill" and (Marites) Helvey of Chico, California, and Howard Randall and (Audra) Helvey of Leitchfield, Ky. Two daughters; Brenda H. (Roy) Abell of Buffalo, Ky. and Lora Kathleen Cole, of Leitchfield, Ky.
Eighteen grandchildren; Sarah (Todd) Martin, Jenny Helvey, Paul (Blair) Helvey, John (Tracy) Helvey, Ben (Michele) Helvey, Matthew (Emily) Helvey, Allison Helvey, Emilie Helvey, Rhonda A. (Bill) Whitlock, Ruth A. (Joey) Bishop, Andrea A. (Jon) Bell, Timothy Cole, Thomas Cole, David (Amanda) Cole, Joseph (Stacy) Helvey, Jeffery (Lora) Helvey, Tiffany (Kenny) Rodgers, and Mac (Kaitlyn) Helvey .
Twenty One Great-grandchildren, Two great great Grandchildren, Her brother; Thorton (Mary) Ledford, Many special nephews, nieces and wonderful friends.
Funeral Services for Ruth Ledford Helvey, will be held Monday September 12 at 1 p.m. at William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel. with Billy Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Buffalo.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. and will continue Monday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
