Shelia Jones Whitlock, of Hodgenville, born Nov. 28, 1958, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was a faithful member of Wesley Meadows United Methodist Church and served the Lord in many capacities by teaching Sunday school, providing the children's sermon, working with the Meadowlarks choir, active in the United Methodist Women's group, and she and her husband provided the special music many Sundays at the morning worship service. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13.
She graduated from LaRue County High School in 1976, and Elizabethtown Community College School of Nursing in 1979, receiving a registered nurse degree. She worked as an RN at Hardin Memorial Hospital and taught diabetic classes until medically retiring in 1995. After retiring, she continued doing volunteer work at the hospital.
Her hobbies included singing, reading, quilting, needle work, house plants and her favorite hobby was hatching and raising ducks and geese. She had a love for all animals.
She was preceded in death by three grandparents, Paul Clark and Henry and Gertie Jones.
She is survived by her husband, of 27 years, Sherrill Whitlock; her parents, Jack and Doris Jones; and grandmother, Helen Clark, all of Hodgenville; her brother, Larry (Norma) Jones of Nancy; a niece, Hillary (Clinton) Cooper; two great-nieces, Ella and Nora Cooper; a great-nephew, Graham Cooper, all of Lexington; and her little dog, Jo Jo.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Wesley Meadows United Methodist Church, 4341 Campbellsville Road, with the Rev. Wallace Votaw and Rev. Andrew Singh officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
