Veechel Coffey, 79, of Hodgenville, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of Union Christian Church, a retired farmer, an avid horseshoe pitcher and a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfield "Jake" and Ida Mae Whitlow Coffey; a grandson, Nathan Coffey; a sister, Juanita Coffey Stovall; and four brothers, Harold Thomas, Bertram, Lonnie and Sherman Coffey.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jo Ann Wortham Coffey; a daughter, Teresa (Will Thompson) Baird of Hodgenville; three sons, Davy (Ramona) Coffey of Hodgenville, Dorma Coffey of Elizabethtown and Bear (Ramona) Coffey of Boston; a sister, Alvine Hampton of Pennsylvania; a brother, Ham (Marie) Coffey of Magnolia; a step-sister, Barbara (Charlie) Logsdon of Hodgenville; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Steve Campbell and Rev. Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow in Union Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
