It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend Manuel M. Guerra, 78 of San Miguel, New Mexico, on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 10, 1934 in Berino, to Albino Sr. and Eva Mena Guerra. Manuel was a very well-known farmer in the area for his hot chili, was admired and respected by many in the Mesilla Valley, was a hardworking, wise and smart man, who always mentored his children and grandchildren.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of sixty years, Maria Elena Fielding Guerra of the family home; three sons, Manuel Guerra, Jr., and wife Cruz of La Mesa, Hilario Guerra and wife, Patricia of Las Cruces, and Lorenzo Guerra and wife Michelle of San Miguel; three daughters, Martha Rubio and husband, Fernando of Anthony, Teresa Guerra and companion Joe Oliver of Las Cruces, and Maggie Chavarria of Wyoming; a brother Luis Guerra and wife Mary of Globe, Arizona; and three sisters, Lupe Alvardo and Natalia Mercado both of Berino and Juana Guerra of Parker, Arizona. Other survivors include twenty grandchildren, thirteen great-grand children, as well as numerous niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Antonio Guerra and Albino Guerra, Jr., and a sister Otilia Barron.
Services were held at San Miguel Catholic Church. At his request cremation will take place and inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Manuel, Lorenzo, Hilario and Michael Guerro, Richard, Manny and Fernando Rubio. Honorary bearers will be all of his granddaughters.
The Guerra family would like to thank Dr. Ana Mercer for her 30 years of professional and loving care, and to the many family members for the love and support; you all gave to your father.
