Roman "Ray" Torres, 73, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe.
He was born on June 17, 1939 in Las Vegas.
He was retired from the Las Vegas City Schools and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Rosa Martinez-Torres and brother-in-law, Arthur "Castro" Vigil.
He is survived by his wife, Marie V. Torres of Las Vegas; son, Danny Torres and wife Shirley of Santa Fe; daughters, Janet Lujan and husband William of San Antonio, Texas, Loretta Kastendieck and husband Kurt of Santa Fe; sisters, Judy Montoya and Dolores Martinez and husband Paul all of Española; grandchildren, Joshua, Christian, Andrew, Will Jr, Lujan, Holly, Luke, Julie Kastendieck, Mercedes, Samantha Torres and Anthony Aragon; sisters-in-law, Frances Baca and husband Freddy, Lucille Vigil; and mother-in-law, Juanita "Jenny" Vigil.
Rosary services will be held at 9 a.m. today (Monday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will follow the rosary with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, with the following serving as casket bearers: Major William Lujan, Dr. Kurt Kastendieck, Alfred Baca, Glenn Vigil, James Branch and George Padilla.
Serving as honorary bearers will be all his grandchildren.
