Lucila M. Arguello, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away July 2, 2013, in Santa Fe.
She was born in Lincoln, NM, on Dec. 21, 1920.
She received her B.A. degree at Highlands University. She taught school in Lincoln, Mora and San Miguel Counties, and retired from the Las Vegas City Schools after 30 years. She was a lifetime Catholic and an original charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 1796. She served as Regent and Vice Grand Regent. She served the church as a lector and eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Society and Auxilian at the local hospital.
She is preceded in death by parents Emilio and Francisca Miranda, husband, Palemon, and son David Arguello. She is also preceded in death by siblings: Max and Henry Miranda, Mabel Ramsey, Nellie Trujillo and Ofelia Salas.
She is survived by one daughter, Pita Cortez, son Benjamin and wife Alicia Cortez, great-grandchildren, Quiara, Joaquin and Amariz
Cortez.
Three sons: Phil and wife, Ella Arguello, grandchildren: Minda, Max, Armando and Miguel, great- grandchildren Destiny and Armando Jesus Arguello.
Jose and wife, Marla Arguello, granddaughter, Claudia and husband, Lenny Coca, great-grandchildren Julio, Cila, Cleo and Liana Coca, granddaughter Miranda Arguello and fiancé Brian Roy.
Edward Arguello, grandson, Frank and wife Francine Arguello, great-grandchildren Antonio, Alicia and Francisco Arguello, daughter Francisca and husband, Diego Trujillo, great-grandchildren Javier, Diego and Gabriela Trujillo, grandson Flavio Arguello and partner Ericko Quintos.
Surviving siblings, Gilbert and JoNelle Miranda, Gerry and Charlie Chacon and Dolores Faglier, Frances and Joe Gallegos, Beatrice and Sam Melendrez, Gustavo Miranda, and Jane Adams.
Casket Bearers: granddaughters Claudia Coca and Miranda Arguello, grandsons Armando and Miguel Arguello, great-grandchildren Antonio and Francisco Arguello, Javier and Diego Trujillo
Honorary Bearers: Adan Trujillo, George Archuleta, Chris Torres, Julian Rains, Larry Archuleta, Lupe Torres, Marilyn and James Valerio. Special mention Father George V. Salazar, Father C. Brasher, Larry and Bertha Archuleta, James and Arlene Ortiz, Geraldine Pacheco, Barbara Montoya, Diana Trujillo, Michael and Margaret Lucero, Eddie Gallegos, Basilia Villareal, Jackie and Joseph Padilla.
Funeral services were to be held today (Monday), with Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Celebrant Mass at 10:00 am at
Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.
Mass was officiated by Father George V. Salazar. Interment took place at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Las Vegas.

I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Arguello's passing. She was my 2nd grade teacher and she was so good to me. I learned so much from her because she was so patient. Rest in Peace.
