Barbara Bernardy, 72, a resident of Anton Chico and formerly of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Sept. 26, 2013, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 11, 1941 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelicio and Cordelia Jaramillo, and her in-laws, Henry and Mary Bernardy
Barbara is survived by her husband, Wilfred Bernardy; daughter, Cynthia Ulibarri and husband, Arnold; sons, Lawrence Bernardy and wife, Jo, Adam Bernardy , Rodrick Bernardy and girlfriend, Tammy, along with grandchildren: Michelle and husband, Bryan, Anthony and wife, Verity, Maria and husband, Troy, Olivia and husband, Keegan, Heather, Garrett, Rachel, Mary Helen, Jacob, Alexander, and Joseph, along with 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Danny, Arthur; sisters, Patsy, Connie and Rita; sister-in-law, Mary Ann; along with aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara retired from the Federal Crop USDA in Kansas City, Mo. Later became a teacher at the Guadalupe County Jail, Vaughn High School an instructor through Luna community College. She also worked for the USPS as a Postmaster Relief and later as an OIC Postmaster in La Loma. Barbara was an accomplished artist, poet and collector of antiques.
Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at San Jose Catholic Church, in Anton Chico. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at San Jose Catholic Church. Serving as honorary pallbearers, her godchildren, Hank Perea, Anthony Ulibarri and Joseph Jaramillo. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sedillo at the Sedillo Hill Cemetery.
