Pedro M. Romero, 92, a resident of Trujillo, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, surrounded by his loving family in Trujillo.
He was born in Trementina on Jan. 20, 1921, to Rebecco Romero and Frutosa Maes-Romero.
He enjoyed taking care of his ranch, horseback riding and taking care of his animals. His two daughters were the love of his life; he also enjoyed being surrounded by his entire family and grandchildren.
He was a lifetime Catholic, and member of San Isidro Church in Trujillo and Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters; his wife, Sara Parson Romero; children, Lee Romero, Herman Romero, Dan Romero and Alvin Romero.
He is survived by his daughters and sons, Irene Martinez (Miguel) of Las Vegas, Fred Romero and wife Pam of Trujillo, Jerry Romero and wife Penny of Dalhart, Texas, Sarah Quintana and husband Diego of Pecos, Nick Romero and his lovely wife Corrine of Las Vegas, Richard Romero of Springtown, Texas; brother, Alfredo Romero and wife Dilia of Denver, Colo.; daughters-in-law, Dolores Romero of Denver, Colo., Vickie Romero of Albuquerque, Missie Romero of Tucumcari; good friend: Alfredo Gutierrez of Trujillo; special nephews, Steve (Blas) Lucero, and Reyes Montoya both of Las Vegas; half brothers and sisters, Luis Romero, Albert Romero both of Dodge City, Kansas, Carlos Romero of Hereford, Texas, Ida Romero, Tomasita Romero and Angela Romero all of Las Vegas; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and many many friends.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Isidro Cemetery in Trujillo, with the following serving as casket bearers: Joey Martinez, Fred Romero, Herman Romero, D.J. Quintana, Joshua Romero and Nicholas Romero. Serving as honorary bearers: Chance Romero, Peter Ulibarri, Phillip Romero, Larry Webb and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
