Pete Apodaca, 102, and a resident of Encinal passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 17, 1911 in San Geronimo to Carlos Apodaca and Genoveva Gonzales-Apodaca.
He served 32 years in the civil service as a supervising groundskeeper for Lowry Air Force Base in Denver.
He was an avid gardener and loved his church as he was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Las Vegas and Mora.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Apodaca and Genoveva Gonzales-Apodaca.
He is survived by his children, Helen Lucero and Elsie Maes of Denver, Patrick Apodaca of Ribera, Peggy Boney and husband, John, Carlos Apodaca, Vincent Apodaca, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jamie Boney Montoya and husband, Jonathon, and great-grandchild, Jeremy, of Dallas; Johnathon Boney and wife, Katherine Anne, of Albuquerque, Isaac Apodaca and Samantha Apodaca of Santa Fe, Paula Black of Miami, Anthony Trujillo, Nora Bershof and husband, Joel, Robert Maes and wife, Karen, Cindy Cooper, all of Denver, Patrick Apodaca, Jr. of San Jose, Jeremiah Apodaca of Las Vegas, and Andrea Apodaca of Santa Fe; 28 great-grandchildren, and 46 great-great-children.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rogers Chapel with Pastor Leroy Aragon officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe with the following serving as pallbearers: Carlos Apodaca, Vincent Apodaca, Johnathon Boney and Jonathon Montoya.
