Pete J. Baca, 44, a resident of Albuquerque and Serafina, passed away in Albuquerque and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014.
He was born in Albuquerque on June 21, 1969 to Edward D. Baca and Patricia M. Algien-Baca.
He was a beloved dad, son, uncle, nino and friend. He loved racing horses, softball, baseball, hunting and family gatherings. Pete had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh. He graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1987, then went to Highlands University where he received his bachelor's and master' degrees in Social Work. He will be greatly missed by all.
A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Lagunita.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ned and Mary Algien; and paternal grandparents, Daniel and Bernadina Baca.
He is survived by his beloved parents, Edward and Patty Baca of Serafina; son, Eloy Gonzales of Albuquerque; brothers, Mark Baca and Frieda Maldonado, Richard Baca Sr., and Arlene Faircloth; niece, Andrea Baca; niece-goddaughter, Nicole Baca; nephew, Ricky Baca, Jr., all of Albuquerque; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Antonio Mondragon as celebrant. Interment will follow at Nuestra Señora del Rosario Cemetery in Lagunita with the following serving as casket bearers: Greg Mondragon, Tony Mondragon, Benny Tapia, Jr., Douglas Flores, Victor Ulibarri Jr., and Leroy Trujillo Jr. Serving as Honorary Bearers: Hubert Anaya, Robert Dimas, Ricky Baca Jr., Ronnie Tapia and Johnny Vigil Jr.
