Stella J. "Grandma Red" Vigil(1936 - 2013)

Stella J. Vigil, 76, a longtime resident of Mora, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at her home in Mora.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1936, in Buena Vista to the late Antonio Padia and Viola Arguello.

Stella was such a beautiful soul with a big heart, pretty smile, and an irreplaceable love. She enjoyed dancing the night away, cooking, loved fixing up her hair, listening to music, planting flowers, and spending time with her children.

She was preceded in death with her parents, Antonio Padia and Viola Arguello; sisters, Sophia Blanchard and Flora Maestas.

She is survived by her children, Frank Vigil and wife Clara, Juan Vigil and wife Dolores of Las Vegas, Freddie Vigil and wife Grace of Albuquerque, Patsy Weber and husband Charlie of Golondrinas, Andy Vigil of Albuquerque, New, Gloria Vigil of Gilbert, Ariz.; a grandson raised as a son, Joe Weber; of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Joey Vigil and wife Albrey, Sharon Vigil, Kenny Vigil and wife Melissa, Sandy Vigil, Dale Vigil, Freddie Vigil Jr. and wife Lisa, Mark Vigil, Dennis Vigil and wife Nicole, Adam Weber and wife Jessica, Charles Weber, David Weber, Juan Weber, Jason Sanchez, Janelle Sanchez, Johnna Walker and husband Glen, Darlene Vigil and husband Marvin and Donna Vigil. Stella is also survived by her 28 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Judy Gonzales-Arguello, Lucille Arguello; brothers, Edward Arguello and wife Judy, Amadeo Pino; sisters-in-law, Martha Casias and husband Juan of Albuquerque, and Senaida Medina and husband Alex of Wyoming.

Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at St. Gertrudes Church in Mora. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at St. Gertrudes Church in Mora with Father James Sanchez as celebrant. Interment will follow at La Cueva Cemetery, with the following serving as casket bearers: Joey Vigil, Joe Weber, Kenny Vigil, Adam Weber, Freddie Vigil, Jr., Jason Sanchez. Serving as honorary bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
