Tony J. Escudero of Las Vegas, born on April 29, 1937 to Epifanio Escudero and Dora Lopez passed away on Sept. 4, 2013 after an extended illness.
A lifelong Catholic of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Tony served for the United States Navy
on the USS Merrick and was honorably discharged in 1957. After which time, he returned to New Mexico and met his beautiful wife of 53 years, Tillie Maes.
They have two children, Sandra Gallegos, husband, Michael of Albuquerque, and Antonio Escudero of Las Vegas. As well as, two grandchildren, Michael Gallegos, wife, Monica and Carlos Gallegos.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Consuelo Rivera and husband, Joe; close cousin, Helen Esquibel and husband, Emilio; sister-in-law, Rose Maes; brother-in-laws, Arcenio Maes, wife, Paz; and Elias Maes, wife, Felecita.
Public viewing will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home. Rosary is also scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, funeral mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Burial following at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are godson, Felipe Roybal; grandchildren, Michael and Carlos Gallegos; brother-in-law, Cornelio Roybal; and nephew, Ernesto Maes and Manuel Burgos. Honorary pallbearers are cousin, Loretta Lopez, nieces, Kathy Sierra, Virginia Rodriguez, and Priscilla Barboa.
