Vicki Kirby, 68, of Ulysses, Kan. died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kan. She was born Sept. 27, 1945 in Cheyenne Wells, Colo., the daughter of Russell and Mary Lou (Johnson) Ryser.
Vicki grew up and graduated in Cheyenne Wells, Colo. Vicki married Carl David Kirby in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a bookkeeper and had lived in various places including Alaska for 10 years, and 13 years in Mora. Vicki was very devoted to her work and was the manager of a golf course for a year. She also loved to cook. Vicki moved two and a half years ago to Ulysses to be closer to family.
She is survived by her step-son, Jon Kirby; brothers, Randall Ryser and wife, Shirley of McCook, Neb., Kelly Ryser and wife, Karen of Mora; sisters, Pat Feezor and husband, Marvin of Ulysses, Kan., Carmen Medina and husband Jess of Sublette, Kan.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and sister, Dana Gerstner.
Rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. and memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kan. with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Inurnment will be in May at the Christmas Tree Canyon Cemetery in Mora. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
