Willie Threadgill, longtime resident of Montezuma, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital at the age of 72.
Willie was born in Las Vegas on July 15, 1941, to the union on William and Lavinia Threadgill along with two brothers and four sisters.
He married and is survived by Sadie, the love of his life, 46 years ago. They were going to celebrate 47 years together on May 24, 2014.
Willie worked as a diesel mechanic, loved sharing his knowledge and always willing to help others. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966 and in the National Guard from 1966-71.
He was a dedicated father who helped raise four children, William Threadgill (deceased) and is survived by Matthew Threadgill and wife, Deanna, Michelle Threadgill and fiancé, John, Cheryl Harris and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Jennae Sandoval, Vicki, Monique and Jacob Threadgill and Honor Harris.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Douglas Mitchell at 9 a.m. Wednesday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Interment will follow the mass at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Montezuma. Military honors will be provided by the local VFW
members along with the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Joseph Threadgill, David Threadgill, Joseph Herrera, Fred Harris, John Lytle, David Bennett and Ricky Griego.
A reception will follow the burial services at the VFW in Las Vegas at 1 p.m.
