J.D. Maes Obituary
He was born on March 11, 1924, in Maes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Maes, father, Jose Delfino Maes, Sr. and mother, Maria Efren Maes, brothers, Frank, Gilbert, and sisters, Margaret Collins and Edwina Schubert.
He is survived by his sons, Ralph Maes of Trementina, Chris D. Maes and wife Dianne of Rio Rancho, and David P. Maes and special friend Diane Moore of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Bryan Maes, Christian Maes, Maria Maes-McChriston, Myra Kershaw, Nicholas Maes, and Jonathan D. Maes. He is also survived by his brothers, Antonio, Carlos, Leo and Mike; many nieces and nephews who were very special to him. Many other relatives also survive him.
J.D. retired from the New Mexico State Police in 1979. He enjoyed ranching and tending to his animals. J.D. was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to many. J.D. will leave a tremendous void in our lives. He will be greatly missed.
He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 24. Interment will follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are the New Mexico State Police Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 403 Valencia St., Las Vegas, NM 87701.
